Dear GAP Forum,
Enis Karaaslan reported that he has implemented some advanced primality
testing and prime finding routines in GAP. Fristly, thanks to Enis for the
report. We very much encourage people to report to the forum on the kinds of
things they are doing with GAP, and to seek others to discuss their specific
interests.
The only directly related work that I am aware of is the factint package of
Stefan Kohl, implementing advanced factorization techniques.
This is perhaps also a good opportunity to remind the forum of the two
possibilities we offer for GAP users to make their code available for others:
1. Share Packages (see http://www-gap.dcs.st-and.ac.uk/gap/Info4/share.html),
which are refereed contributions which can be loaded into GAP in a uniform
manner. Some are purely GAP code, some are links to external C programs.
2. Deposited Contributions, (see http://www-gap.dcs.st-and.ac.uk/gap/Info4/depo
sit.html) which can take a variety of forms, and are unrefereed. This option
is typically suitable for very small fragments of code, or less polished code,
or as a preliminary step on the road to submission and refereeing of a share
package.
