If you look in the Œlib¹ directory of your GAP installation, you will find
the code to these methods. There are several different implementations of
both Socle and IsMonomial, so be sure to not stop at the first one you
find!

In some cases following how GAP works can be complex, the function
ŒTraceMethods¹ is useful for finding out exactly what GAP code is being
called in a particular program.
