The section "About Matrix Groups" in the manual says :

" ... Especially inifinite matrix groups (over the rationals or cyclotomic
fields) can not be dealt with at all. "

Now what I am trying to do is not very complicated : starting with a small
number of rational matrices which I know generate an infinite group, I'd
like to get the first 1000 or so elements (as generated by any algorithm
for now; later I would like add some selection rules). Is this also impossible?
if it is then which of the "internal" programs should I look at to get an
idea of what's involved?. Thanks.

PS. This has to do with a number of problems in crystallography that I'd like
to look at using GAP. If anyone else has done any work along these lines
or has any suggestions please let me know. Thanks.
